Hey there! Thanks for stopping by the blog and letting me share a few of my favorite things with you! Today I’ll be talking about how I have created an eco-conscious and non-toxic bathroom. If you’re anything like me, you love self-care and can get a little hoard-y with the products. Oops! But I believe that we can have all the products if we are purchasing the right ones, you know. Ones that come in recyclable packaging and without toxins and a bunch of artificial crap. Did you know that our skin absorbs 64% of contaminants and our underarms and genitalia absorb up to 100% of contaminants, according to a study in the American Journal of Public Health. So, seriously y’all, what we put on our skin matters, because so many body products on the market contain a cocktail of carcinogenic chemicals, allergens, irritants and endocrine disruptors that get absorbed right into our lymphatic and blood systems and can literally wreak havoc on our bodies.
So let’s jump in to my favorite go-to non-toxic and eco conscious bathroom products! Yeah! Starting with; (y’all know I’ve got to share my love for Oway hair care) shampoo, conditioner. Were just going to work our way from the head down on this one. Lol. OWAY. I am obsessed with Oway and honestly, I haven’t had anyone try it and not completely fall in love. Oway’s professional organic hair care products are artfully formulated with biodynamic botanicals, organic ingredients, and pure essential oils. All products are certified cruelty-free and are free from common toxic ingredients, as well as fair trade and sustainable. On top of all that, the products have exceptional performance with a wide range of products for any hair type or concern. It’s the only line I personally use at home, and my hair has never been healthier. I’m just skipping a few body parts because I use Oway’s body care as well. Check out their detox body wash, it is so luxurious + yummy you’ll want to bathe in it! Oh wait! That’s exactly what it’s for! But seriously… it’s the bomb + I promise your skin will feel so nourished after using it. I’ll link Oway’s website and my personal affiliate link so you can shop all Oway has to offer right from this blog post!
If you follow me on Instagram, which if you don’t you should cuz I share a bunch of really good stuff there too, you’ve heard me talk about my journey with my skin. Wow, that’s been a long one. So, I’m going to skip over face care and makeup today because, honestly that is going to be a whole ass post on its own. Ya feel me tho, right?! Like we can only absorb so much information at one time and I’m already throwing a lot at you.
Continuing on… I use bamboo toothbrushes for my oral care, along with all-natural toothpaste and flossers made with 70% cornstarch and 30% recyclable bioplastic. I am currently using the soft bristle toothbrush from the humble co. as well as the mint natural humble floss picks from the humble co. The floss picks aren’t completely plastic free, and I will always advocate for doing as much as you can without sacrificing your mental health or actual health, because our society just isn’t built to be supportive of an eco-conscious and non-toxic lifestyle. I know that I will use floss more often when I have the floss sticks, rather than the traditional floss, so I opt for the most eco-friendly option possible…The flossers are recyclable, and yet it’s not always guaranteed that what we put into our recycling actually gets recycled, which is why I aim to use products that are manufactured and packaged in eco-conscious packaging that is the least detrimental to the environment. The toothpaste I use is the David’s charcoal premium natural toothpaste. David’s uses naturally sourced and derived ingredients; free of SLS, sulfates, artificial flavors, artificial sweeteners, artificial colors, preservatives, and fluoride; is plant based and vegan, and not tested on animals; packaged in America with USA origin ingredients in a recyclable metal tube. I am obsessed with this toothpaste, even though it’s a little on the pricey side, it is well worth it, and I will always recommend this brand. If you order straight from the David’s website, which I’ll link, there are options for subscribing or buying in multiples to save a little money.
Now, is there a better feeling than cleaning out your ears? It is weirdly one of my favorite things, so I knew I had to find an eco-conscious option when I’m going through multiple q-tips every day. And surprisingly, this was an easy one. I purchased bamboo q-tips as an easy way to get that clean feeling all while reducing my single-use plastic waste! A cool website to check out several cool eco-conscious personal care products that are healthier for our body and the planet is byhumankind.com. Go on and take a gander, you won’t be disappointed!
My intention for this whole blog is to inspire even just one person to make some small swaps in their home or business to more sustainable products. Products that are healthier for our bodies as well as Mama Earth, because we only get one body and one planet + it’s our job to take care of them. I’ll be the first to admit, I don’t do eco-conscious perfectly, and yet I’m always trying to find the best products for my home that support the health of my body + Mama Earth, and I truly believe that is the best we can do. You know, it’s like just do your best… be a good human to yourself + others, respect and love our planet, and don’t be an asshole. I’d love it if you hit that subscribe button, and in return you will get tips on ways to live a holistically wealthy life delivered right to your inbox every Friday! Thanks for lookin’.
